Tips To Vacuum Your Rugs

Daily vacuuming is essential to maintain the good looks and longevity of your rug as entrenched dirt and grit can cause severe damage to rug fibers as well as affecting colors and general appearance.

Use a strong suction vacuum to penetrate the stack and expel particles

For shaggy rugs, handmade rugs, wool or fringed rugs, beater bar vacuums are not recommended.

Cyclonic vacuums on some wool rugs should be used with caution, if in doubt, please ask.

Hold the vacuum brushes clean and watch out on the equipment for rough edges that could scratch the stack.

Wool rugs should be vacuumed at least three times a week (low suction, no beater bar).  For several months, all new wool rugs have shed some fibres, this is normal and will ultimately stabilize overtime.

Some of the best tips to clean your rug:

Vacuum in both cases. If you just vacuum your rug in one direction, you risk missing a lot of dirt and grit that you can easily pick up by simply changing the angle.

Before it gets too full, empty your vacuum. If you use a vacuum cleaner with a bag, the bag will need to be emptied before it becomes overfilled and loses suction. This will make it easier to avoid wasted vacuuming time and keep your new oriental rug clean.

Don't hurry up! While running the vacuum over your new rug quickly seems to do the job, it's better to take your time in reality. These bits of grit and dirt may be coaxing a little bit.

Vacuum is visibly dirty before your rug. This is a good way to prevent dirt and dust from destroying your rug's fibers, and you can keep the rug clean with much less effort than if you leave it too long.
